As 2022 is ending, we want to celebrate and recap some of our best moments this year and thank all the people and organizations that have been accompanying us on this journey.

It has been a very intense year, full of events, projects and initiatives, so we will try to make a summary of what happened, although everyone knows that being brief is not our strong suit. We like to expand, talk, argue and support everything with data and evidence!

Our year began with a news: our UBA Data and Gender Seminar It was approved and we were going to have a semester course in the Political Science degree. We put together a great teaching team and took to the field, enjoying a great cohort of students and teaching classes about what we are passionate about.

Then came a long-awaited meeting, in February 2022 we met in Buenos Aires with Catherine D'Ignazio, author of the book Data Feminism (which he wrote together with Lauren F. Klein), at that meeting we chatted, exchanged experiences and laid the foundations to begin translating his book, which guided us so much, into Spanish. In September of this year we finally delivered the latest version, we made a collective, feminist, Latin American and decolonial translation of the book, so that all Spanish-speaking people can read it without restrictions.

The year also began with the good news that we had been selected by A+ Alliance, Women at the Table and the TEC of Costa Rica to develop a project within the framework of the call “Feminist Artificial Intelligence” set with the Court No. 10 of the City of Buenos Aires To automate the loading and opening of data on gender violence sentences in Spanish, this tool is called AymurAI. Throughout this year we have been working hard on this development that began with a paper and is now in the prototyping phase. AymurAI involves Artificial Intelligence, Human-Centered Design and Feminist Technology. He is advising us Marianela Ciolfi Felice and we are working with Collective.ai and Aerolab in the prototype that will be implemented in courts in the region. At the same time, we have the work of a large team of document taggers, a central task for training the algorithms that make up AymurAI.

Within this same project we had the honor of writing a short chapter in the publication “Feminist Artificial Intelligence: towards a research agenda in Latin America and the Caribbean”.

We also had the pleasure of working with DipLab in the Honorable Chamber of Deputies of the Nation and with the GCBA preparing manuals recommending the use of data and artificial intelligence with a gender perspective.

Unlike our previous two years that were very pandemic, we were lucky enough to travel around Argentina and the world presenting our work at DataGénero, creating new ties at each conference, workshop and talk where we were invited. We were in Buenos Aires, Rosario, Rio Negro, Córdoba, Chile and the United Kingdom in various events and working with governments.

We participated in impact acceleration programs that helped us advance our projects and our future projection: Yunus and Youth (thanks to Fernando Santana, Marcela Thurler Lessa, Beatriz Carla Koch and Yasmin Morais) and Watson Institute (thanks to Dwayne Patrick Griffith).

We gave talks at MozFest, RightsCon, LACCEI, World Ethical Data Forum, Philosophical Research Institute (GIFT group), Pasteur Institute, Frontiers of Digital Development Forum, Creative Bureaucracy Festival Hub Prague, C Minds & PICT Policy Lab and many more places. And they also invited us to talk in various media outlets telling what we have been developing.

As always, we want to thank the allied and friendly organizations that accompanied us and generated new networks and new ties to continue growing.

We have a 2023 just as intense as 2022, we look forward to it and we want to continue growing, collecting valuable information, asking ourselves questions and adding our grain of sand towards gender equality.
